Justin W. Havemann, MD, JD

Board Certified Psychiatrist

Dr. Havemann is an Ohio native. He grew up south of Dayton and attended Case Western Reserve University after high school where he earned a BA and MA in philosophy. He also attended medical school at CWRU, graduating with an MD in 2008. He completed his residency in psychiatry at the Cleveland Clinic in 2012 after which he joined the staff at Cleveland Clinic’s Marymount Hospital in Garfield Heights, Ohio.

At Marymount, Dr. Havemann provided both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care as well as electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) to adult and geriatric patients. In 2013, Dr. Havemann was promoted to Medical Director of Marymount’s large psychiatric practice and joined the medical executive committee through which he influenced policy decisions in addition to providing medical care to his patients. During his tenure as Medical Director, Dr. Havemann trained numerous medical students and residents in geriatric behavioral health and expanded the ECT program.

In addition to being a physician, Dr. Havemann is also an attorney-at-law, having received his JD from Columbia University School of Law in 1999, and is a member of the Ohio Bar Association. Although he practiced law at a large Cleveland law firm for a number of years (and continues to maintain a valid and active law license), he has been a practicing psychiatrist exclusively since 2008.

Dr. Havemann is a "complete" physician. This means he brings to bear years of experience in every aspect of general psychiatry, including inpatient hospitalization, outpatient clinical work, consult liaison psychiatry and ECT. This also means he focuses not only on the primary behavioral health issues of his patients, but keeps a keen eye on the contributions that underlying medical conditions exert on their emotional wellbeing.
